Influential individuals from across the global business sector, namely the Business 20 or B20, and the G20 heads of state and government recently met at the B20 Summit 2012 in Los Cabos, Mexico to present the business leaders’ commitments and recommendations to the heads of state on topics such as food security, green growth, financing for growth and development, employment, trade and investment, ICT and innovation, improving transparency, and advocacy and impact. This last theme represents Mexico’s contribution to the B20/G20 process which runs across all themes and helps in monitoring the recommendations’ progress even after Los Cabos.

The chair of the B20 Organizing Committee and CEO of Cinépolis, Alejandro Ramírez, stated on the topic of the B20 Mexico 2012, “As business leaders, we understand that it is not possible to measure success or failure properly. That is why, this year, the B20 has focused on setting out concrete goals which can be measured and achieved, and has created the tools to be able to measure success or failure.”

The B20 Summit 2012 in Los Cabos, Mexico, under the Mexican Presidency has provided an outlet for conversation and has turned into a call to action for the global community, spurring ideas and instigating real economic development. The B20 Summit addressed, through varieties of panels, discussions, and work sessions, many important issues that affect humanity on a grander level. These topics included green growth, food security, innovation, international trade, development, and creating a peaceful diplomatic and cooperative international society. The first B20 took place in Toronto in 2010, and for the last couple years has provided global leaders the opportunity to reflect upon the current state of the economy, political system, and job sector and find solutions to many issues concerning all humans, wherever they are and whoever they are.
